Dear Jimi,
Thank you for providing me with your intern/apprenticeship student Sean
Chou on my feature film 'Pool Hall Junkies', starting Christopher Walken,
Chaz Palmenteri and Rod Steiger.
I was so impressed with Sean that I hired him on to be second assistant
director on the feature. My first job for him was to go to the airport and
pick up Christopher Walken and Rod Steiger. Sean had never met a celebrity
before, nor had he even stepped foot on an actual working movie set. The
crew members all veterans, were very impressed with Sean and had no idea
that this was his first paying job in the film industry.
I'm currently in post on the film and I have convinced the production
company to allow me to keep Sean on the payroll during post production
phase. He will serve as assistant to the post production supervisor. Sean
will also be able to shadow that whole process of editing as well as having
the opportunity to go to the lab during final cut, color correction, etc. I
wish someone would've walked me through the entire process of film making
like this, when I was looking to break into the field.
As you know I took Sean under my wing during the pre-production stages of
this project. He trained under my supervision for about 4 months before I
hired him on to the project. Now after only a few months have past he has
got a full film credit to his name.
The knowledge he has received from your program could have never been
attained in the traditional film school environment. Also the course
materials that you provided for him, are excellent. How did you come up
with all that stuff? I'm very impressed with this because I've spoke at
lectures at several colleges and film schools throughout the country,
including NYU. And I have had a chance to see and look over the curriculum,
first hand. I've got to tell you your information and curriculum is much
more up to date than they are using at the University.
I have also already signed on to direct another feature in April and I plan
to bump Sean up to 1st Assistant Director on that project. By the way if
you have any other candidates like Sean please let me know.
Meanwhile, I feel Sean is well on his way to a full time career in the film
industry. Congratulations on a remarkable concept way ahead of the times. I
highly recommend your program to anyone trying to pursue a career in film
production. Your program works! Sean is a proof of that. When it comes to
job placement in the film industry Film & TV Connection is certainly the
way to go. I look forward to a continuing relationship with your company.
If anyone out there would like to talk to me personally about my experience
with Film & TV Connection, ask Jimi for my home number, as I have no
problem endorsing this service.
Sincerely,
Mars Callahan
