Connection's Megan Devine got to work on the Chris
Rock television special recently. She had always dreamt of one
day working this gig; and has framed her first paycheck from the show.
Entertainment Connection graduate Brian Serge recently landed a
job on upcoming film The Punisher (with John Travolta, Will
Patton, and others). During the middle of production, the crew
needed a photograph for a scene in which Travolta would look at the
picture while sitting in a limo. Brian was asked to pose for the photo,
standing next to "The Punisher" (Thomas Janes) himself, and that scene
— with the photo prominently featured — actually ended up in the film,
as well as the trailer!
After doing his apprenticeship at Telemedia, Mathew
Magen landed a job as a Boom Operator and 24-Frame-Playback
Technician for the hit film "Radio," starring Ed Harris,
Oscar winning-actor Cuba Gooding Jr., Alfre Woodard, Debra
Winger and more. As soon as that film was in the can, Mathew
quickly got hired to work on "Mr. 3000," featuring Bernie Mac,
Angela Bassett, Paul Sorvino and Chris Noth,
among others.
Entertainment Connection Student Jason Corey
worked in the camera department on the set of the new movie "The
Cookout," featuring a star-studded cast including Danny Glover,
Farrah Fawcett, Queen Latifah, [Saturday Night Live
alum] Tim Meadows, Ja Rule, Jonathan Silverman
(The Single Guy, Weekend at Bernie's), Meagan Good (Biker Boyz,
Deliver Us From Eva), and more! Look for movie to open later this year.
Stephen Chu, a graduate of Entertainment
Connection's film division, landed a position on Meg Ryan's
latest project "In the Cut." Co-starring Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer
Jason Leigh, Kevin Bacon, and directed by Jane Campion.
Dan
Tresca has been hired as a location scout for the new Jim Carrey
Movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." The film also
stars Kate Winslett, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Raffallo
and Elijah Wood, and is directed by Michel Gondrea.
Terry Starr was just hired as Assistant TV Producer for Jackie
Jordan Inc., the company that handles Montel Williams and
most of the other heavyweights on the talk show circuit.
Student
Nicole Wodowski originally hired-on as a locations liason, and
then was promoted to full-time scout for the NBC hit television show
ED. She got the "gig" only 4 months into her apprenticeship!
One of student Chum Stein's first assignments put
him to work right in his home-town of Las Vegas, on the film Rat
Race, with director Jerry Zucker. The film starred three
Oscar-winning actors (Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding, Jr.,
and Kathy Bates) as well as John Cleese, Rowan
Atkinson, John Lovitz and Seth Green (of Austin
Powers fame). Chum is currently working on the Cirque Du Soleis
stage production of "O" at the Bellagio theater in Las Vegas.
Derek Koen has landed a position with Wesley
Snipes company Amen RA Films. "Within a week I was on set of
'Disappearing Acts,' and I met Mr. Snipes for the first time!"
says Derek. He is now working on a new project with St. Clair Bourne:
one of today's best documentary filmmakers.

it Up Productions in Alberta, Canada has hired Entertainment
Connection student Amanda Michiel as a Production
Coordinator on their current feature "Jet Boy."
Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina --
home of television program Dawson's Creek -- hired Entertainment
Connection student Amy Gill. Through her mentor, Ed Blakely
at The Telemedia Group, Amy had done numerous shoots for E!
Entertainment Television.
The day Dan Witkowski finished his training at H-Gun
Labs in Chicago, Executive Producer (and Dan's mentor) James
Deloye picked up the phone and called his friends to set up an
interview for Dan at NBC in Chicago. Dan was hired on the spot
to a full-time staff job on the Jerry Springer show.
Only two months ago, Sara Gollier began her
training with Owner Ben Moon at Moon Coaches Productions
in Detroit. She was immediately hired as Production Coordinator
for their upcoming feature film. Sara has since quit her 9-to-5 job to
join the staff of Moon Coaches full-time.
Graduate Phuoe Vu has been hired on the production team for the feature film "Expecting Shante," where the script was accepted, and short-listed for a major US $1.8 million dollar film grant by The Sundance Institute Producer's Conference. "I am grateful for the doors Entertainment Connection's Film program has opened for me," says Phuoe. "Since enrolling, I have successfully produced five short films and am currently producing a documentary that will be released later this year."
Carl Landan of Big Cat Productions in Toronto Canada has hired on his student Andrea Colby to an Assitant Editor position.
Tyrone
Dixon of Redbird Productions in Los Angeles reports that 90
days after Rick Proto began his Entertainment Connection course
he was offered a position as a Gaffer in the upcoming John
Singleton film. Redbird Productions just completed Cool Women:
a project executive produced by Debbie Allen for Women's
Entertainment Network.
Even though she has not yet completed the Entertainment
Connection course, The Working Group in San Francisco has hired
on Dara Reali to work in their Computer Animation and Special
Effects department for their upcoming animation feature film,
affirms mentor Ryan Miller.
Barlow Prodcutions has hired on
Entertainment Connection student Eric Griffith to work in their
Camera Department. "Your program is like having an uncle who is
in the business!" says Eric.
Jim
Humphries, Owner of Digital Video Multimedia in Colorado
Springs, CO has offered a position to student Jennifer Caress.
Jennifer is Editing a Documentary for the company.
Theresa from Lions Gate Pictures
in New York reports: "Our student Donna Keller survived when we
threw her in the trenches on Gus Van Sant's current project, so
we decided to hire her on our production staff. The fact that she
already had a couple of independent features under her belt certainly
helped."
10 months ago Fernando Gaspar enrolled
in the Entertainment Connection even though "mom" disagreed with his
film ambitions. Murray Hill Studios in New York just hired
Fernando on as a Camera Operator. Good thing he stuck to his
guns!
Sean Wright apprenticed at Cypress Hill Films
and earned screen credit on the controversial, critically-acclaimed Nick
Broomfield Film "Biggie & Tupac."
"Only 3 months into your course Shayna Webber's
interest in casting actors for features has paid off," says Alyson
Horn, president of Alyson Horn Casting. "I have hired to
work full time in our Casting office here in Los Angeles."
